P6B leaders

Huge congratulations to Essie MacLeod who was voted in as this year's eco rep and JRSO, and to Caela McKinna and Ben MacFadyen who were voted this year's pupil council rep and deputy pupil council rep respectively. I know that you will all do a fab job in your new roles.

Essie MacLeod- Eco rep & JRSO

Caela McKinna- Pupil council rep

Ben MacFadyen- Deputy pupil council rep

Well done to everybody who ran for pupil council and eco rep- you were all very worthy candidates and all delivered fabulous speeches. I for one would have voted for you all if that was allowed! 😀

Superstar cyclists in P6B

Today’s third and final cycling adventure took us all the way along the canal path to Bingham. P6B put in a superb effort and made it all the way there and back, including the hills, in one piece. Thank you for a fab day, kiddies. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your positive attitude, your support for one another and for showing consideration to other road and path users.

P6C Cycle to Spylaw Park

A glorious sunny Edinburgh day saw P6C cycle along the canal on the 8km journey to Spylaw Park today. We set off uphill to Bruntsfield Links before cutting down Leamington Terrace before joining the canal path to Spylaw Park. The children were brilliant at negotiating the, often narrow, canal path and the stunned members of the public at the sight of 32 fluorescent jacketed P6 cyclists! After arriving at Spylaw Park the children enjoyed lunch in the sun before having play in the park and a kick about with the football. Before long we were back on the path back to the school!

A great trip and special thanks to Colin, Sam, Ross, Chris and of course Mrs Christie for their excellent cycle training with the Primary 6s these past three weeks!

P6C  Cross Country

A massive congratulations to P6C girls Anna Cruden, Jojo Rae, Hannah Kerrigan and Sophie Turnbull who took part in the P6/7 Lothian Schools Cross Country race last week. A fantastic effort by all and good luck in the upcoming events!

Scotland Maths Week

As this week is Scotland’s Maths Week P6C teamed up with their buddies in P3C to introduce them to Sumdog during ICT. The P6s were able to help their buddies set up their account, create their Sumdog character and of course guide them through the website and then help support the P3s in their maths! Well done P6 and P3.

P6C Cycling

A fantastic second week cycling for P6C as we consolidated our left and right turns onto major and minor roads. We cycled our way to Bingham going through the Innocent Railway where the class enjoyed a play at the park before getting back on our bikes for the uphill return to school!

Super cyclists in P6B

** C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ** to Tom and William who both took part in the Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle this weekend. The boys enjoyed the challenging 45 mile cycle, which they both managed in under 6 hours and especially enjoyed stocking up on caramel wafers to fuel their bodies for the ride. Well done, boys. Miss McG and P6B are very proud of you. 👏🏻

More cycling adventures for P6B- week 2/3.

In today's cycling lesson P6B enjoyed practising their bike handling skills out on the roads. They continued to develop their awareness and experience of potential hazards, their ability to turn at a junction and their overall confidence on the roads.

After lunch we headed out along the Innocent Railway to Bingham. The kids especially enjoyed travelling down through the tunnel (more so than travelling back up again) and were fantastic at following instructions and looking out for other cyclists and pedestrians on the cycle path.

Fab job P6B. Next week- the canal path 😃
